One of the UNs MDGs is to integrate the principles of sustainable development into country policies and programmes; reverse loss of environmental resources.
Then the next category is "of course": Go Green!
Unfortunately one of the winners (from Mexico) wasn't able to make it to Austria, so we only saw 2 winners in this category.
Aventones
Aventones is a service to create environmental awareness and improve the quality of life in cities, by enabling and promoting carpooling within organizations. In an urban environment like Mexico City, which scores top marks (99 out of 100) on the IBM scale ranking the emotional and economic toll of commuting, Aventones goes against the conventional municipal grain of simply building more roads.

Another one of the UNs MDGs is that they want to empower women.
It's really hard for a danish person to understand why the police doesn't get involved when women are violated, so it was really exciting for us to hear which methods or tools the winners of the category had come up with to help suppressed women.

We went to the University of Graz and met all the other participants: the winners, the judges and the group of students from Finland who were there to do pretty much the same as us.
The chairman of WSYA (World Summit Youth Award) started the day with a short speach and then the amazing presentations started.

Even though the main theme of InnoEvent 2011 was ”Playing in the Hospital” the very core of InnoEvent itself is far away from being just fun and games.
As opposed to “regular” school projects or concepts where the products and ideas often are not brought to reality/life, this is definitely not the case for the chosen concepts from InnoEvent as these are followed up by serious work.
On Tuesday September 20th 2011 the annual OUH (University Hospital Odense) hospital conference took place at Odense Congress Center.
